Atmore man suffers medical emergency in tractor crash, dies

An Atmore man died after suffering a medical emergency while driving a tractor on Vermont Road in Jackson County, Fla., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Trooper David S. Cox said the driver, a 52-year-old man of Atmore who was using his seatbelt, was northbound in the rock mine at 5160 Vermont Rd., towing a trailer.

Cox said in a release that when at the time, Cox suffered a medical emergency.

Cox said the tractor’s front collided with a building, and its trailer came to a final rest at the area of the collision with the building.

The FHP was assisted on scene by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Jackson County Fire Rescue, Cox said in a release.
