Carney Lodge slams Atmore Utilities 6-1

Babe Ruth baseball featured interesting games Monday night as Carney Lodge played Atmore Utilities and the PCI Giants faced Atmore Vision Center.

In a battle of Babe Ruth baseball competitors, Carney Lodge #549 beat the Atmore Utilities Board 6-1 Monday night at Tom Byrne Park.

Leading 2-1 entering the top of the seventh, Carney Lodge put the game away with four more runs to help them pick up the five-run win.

In the top of the first, Carney Lodge got on the board with a run from Chason Freeman (2-for-4, 2R), but the Utilities Board tied the game in the bottom of the second with a run scored by Deandrez McCarthy (2-for-3, R).

Carney Lodge broke the tie in the top of the third with Nate Smith (1-for-3, R) being knocked in by Brannon Freeman (1-for-1).

In the top of the seventh, Carney Lodge added four more runs as Brody Amos (0-for-1, R), Levi Solomon (1-for-3, R), Freeman and Smith each scored to get their team a 6-1 win.

The Poarch Giants picked up a huge win over Atmore Vision Center Monday night at Tom Byrne Park defeating Atmore Vision 11-3.

The Giants were in control from the beginning as they led the contest from start to finish.

In the top of the first, the Giants opened the game with six runs scored by Dustin Lindsey (3-for-3, 3R), Kyler McGlothren (3-for-3, 2R), Gage White (1-for-2, 2R), Trey McGhee (2-for-2, R), Tadd Wall (0-for-2, R) and Casey Jackson (1-for-2, R).

Atmore Vision Center responded with the team’s only three runs of the game in the bottom of the inning with Jon Jon Griffis (0-for-2, R), Dalton Simmons (1-for-2, R) and Zack Carnley (2-for-2, R) crossing the plate.

The Giants added two runs in the top of the second with Lindsey and Rickey Reed (1-for-2, R) making it around the base path to put their team ahead 8-3.

In the top of the fourth, the Giants put the finishing touches on their win scoring three more runs with Lindsey, McGlothren and White touching home plate making the final score 11-3 in favor of the Giants.

In the late afternoon Babe Ruth game on Saturday, Atmore Utilities Board used the power of offense to defeat the Poarch Giants 10-5 at Tom Byrne Park.

Runs came easily for Atmore Utilities Board scoring in every inning, and holding the Giants off the scoreboard in the second and fourth innings led to the five-run win.

The Utilities Board started the game with a run by their leadoff batter A.J. Mathews (3-for-3, R), but the Giants responded by taking the lead 2-1 in the bottom of the inning as Logan Hyatt (1-for-2, R) and Ricky Reed (1-for-1, 2R) cross home plate.

In the top of the second, Atmore Utilities Board pushed into the lead 4-2 with three runs from Perry Metzler (1-for-3, R), Billy Powell (1-for-1 2R) and Orenthal McGhee (1-for-1, R).

After a scoreless at-bat by the Giants, the Utilities Board extended their lead to 8-2 with Tanner Smith (1-for-2, 2R), Coby Smith (1-for-2, 2R), Matthew Quimby (2-for-3, R) and Powell each touching the plate for a run.

The Giants cut the deficit to three-runs in the bottom of the third with runs from Gage White (0-for-1, R), Reed and Trey McGhee (2-for-2, R), but the Utilities Board answered with their two final runs from Tanner and Coby Smith making the score 10-5 with the Utilities Board earning the win.

Jerry’s 3

Carney Lodge #549 won on a game winning run Saturday defeating Jerry’s Alignment Center 4-3 at Tom Byrne Park.

Coby Smith (3-for-3, R) scored the winning run on a double by Jordan Coon (1-for-3) breaking the 3-3 tie that Jerry’s had put into place in the top of the sixth.

Carney Lodge was the first to get on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first with two runs as Brannon Freeman (2-for-3, 2R) and Aaron McDonald (1-for-2, R) crossed home plate giving Carney an early lead.

Trailing 2-0, Jerry’s finally scored a run in the top of the fourth with William Andrioli (3-for-3, R) making it around the base path to cut the deficit to one run.

Freeman scored his second run of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning putting Carney Lodge on top 3-1, but Jerry’s answered back to tie the game in the top of the sixth with runs from Reid Bell (1-for-3, R) and Andrioli.

All it took in the final at-bat was two hits as Smith got on with a double and scored on another double by Coon to give Carney Lodge a victory.

Greenlawn 4

Greenlawn Home Health opened Babe Ruth baseball Saturday morning with a 4-0 shutout of Atmore Vision Center at Tom Byrne Park.

The winners scored two runs in the bottom of the first and two more in the bottom of the fourth to come away with the win.

In the bottom of the first, Greenlawn jumped out to a 2-0 lead with Tristan McAnally (0-for-1, R) and Cody Nolin (1-for-1, R) scoring the game’s first runs.

After no scoring through the second or third innings, Greenlawn added to their lead in the bottom of the fourth with Nolin and Trey Weekes (1-for-2, R) crossing the plate putting their team ahead 4-0.

Following two more scoreless at-bats by Atmore Vision Center, Greenlawn claimed a 4-0 win.
